Description
Eight students completed a 16-hour Department of Fire Programs course that included both classroom and practical exercises. The course is designed to prepare firefighters and EMTs to safely operate vehicles during emergency responses. It includes defensive driving theory, motor vehicle regulations, preventive maintenance, and hands-on training. Seven Falls Church volunteers completed the requirements for the ambulance and pumper: Strickland, Davis, Lahey, Smith, Bellavia, Greear, and LeNard. Additionally, FF Briller upgraded his previous certification to include the pumper. Saint James Catholic Church graciously allowed the use of a conference room for the Saturday session as the FCVFD meeting hall was occupied with a reception following the funeral of a Life Member of the Auxiliary. The practical evolutions were conducted in the parking lot at Falls Church High School. Assisting with instructing the class were Chief Clarke, Assistant Chief Evinger, Deputy Chief Schomburg, Lieutenant Sisler, Lieutenant Schloss, and FF/EMT Kirby.
