Description
One of the highlights of any fire school is the opportunity to train in a live fire environment. The Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Academy provided the facility and materials to give the class their first experience in a fire situation. Throughout the day, recruits cycled through 16 evolutions requiring hoseline advancement, fire stream management, and ventilation practices. The evolutions were supervised by senior volunteer instructors who received specific training in conducting live fire practicals. The teams for the day were: Team 1 - F/F Melnick, Recruits Beck, Davis, Schaefer Team 2 - F/F Hamric, Recruits Vilpors, LeNard, McCarry Team 3 - F/F Schild, Recruits Greear, Rahn, Haley Team 4 - F/F Briller, Recruits Strickland, Donahue Many thanks to Captain Jackson of the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department for his support and guidance in preparation for the training. Thanks also go to the Logistics Section of the Arlington County Fire Department for their assistance with PPE and SCBA.
