Description
Twenty-six FCVFD members staffed Engine 116, Ambulance 106, Ambulance 102, Safety 116, EMS 116, Utility 106, Chief 186's vehicle, two aid stations, and a bicycle EMS team in support of this annual event. For the second year in a row, high temperatures and humidity contributed to several spectators and parade participants suffering a variety of ailments throughout the day. A total of 2 citizens were transported for additional treatment at local hospitals by Arlington advanced life support ambulances, although a significantly higher number were treated without transport. This year's operations were conducted and coordinated utilizing the National Incident Management System protocols. EMT Byron served as the incident commander while Captain Fortner led the pre-incident planning process and coordination meetings. Many thanks to the Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department and Falls Church Sheriff's Office for their cooperative spirit during the planning and execution of the safety aspects of this event.
