Description
Eleven FCVFD personnel participated in a training session that reviewed the variety of considerations when responding to motor vehicle collisions. The event was held at the Arcola-Pleasant Valley VFD due to facility availability and anticipation of additional personnel participating. The classroom portion of the training included scene size-up, scene hazards, patient access, and proper treatment. Due to the rapidly changing weather conditions, operations were conducted using donated vehicles on the grounds as well as inside the bays of the station. Members practiced immobilizing and removing a patient from the front driver's seat and rear seat of a 2-door hatchback car. When the rains came, personnel utilized cribbing from Rescue Engine 9 to practice stabilizing a vehicle inside the apparatus bays. Many thanks to the Arcola-Pleasant Valley VFD and the Loudoun County career staff of Station 9 for their hospitality.
