Farm Machinery Extrication - Awareness & Operations

Description
One of the courses offered at the Caroline County Regional Fire School in 2008 was the Farm Machinery Extrication class. Two FCVFD personnel participated in the 2-day training focused on working safely around farm machinery and extricating victims entangled during machinery accidents. The majority of the class was conducted at the Terrell Farm in Milford, VA. On day one, personnel were familiarized with various pieces of equipment and facilities on a commercial farm. Day two consisted of several practical exercises requiring stabilization, lifting, cribbing, and disassembly of mobile equipment and implements. In addition to the two personnel in the Farm Machinery Extrication course, FCVFD members attended Incident Safety Officer, Mayday! Firefighter Down! and EMT-B refresher courses at the school.
