Description
Indoctrination is the first step to becoming a volunteer firefighter or EMT. It helps to educate new members on the basics of fire services as well as how to operate safely in the field. It includes both classroom and practical experiences spanning several topics including personal protective equipment, ladders and hose lines. Once a new member has graduated from the indoctrination program, they are permitted to begin riding on fire apparatus in a recruit status. From there, they may choose to focus on more advanced training opportunities in firefighting, emergency medical services, or both.
