Description
Volunteer members are tested under simulated fireground conditions to improve their ability to perform on actual incidents. The simulations during this training session required members to operate in 4-person teams at a simulated basement fire in a single family home. Each team was led by a senior volunteer officer or firefighter. The evolution required placement of numerous ground ladders, hoseline advancement via ladders and down interior stairs, establishment of water supply, search and rescue of a victim, and tactical decision making. Additionally, EMS personnel practiced their skills managing a rehabilitation area for firefighters after the evolutions. This involved tracking all of the personnel involved in the drill, monitoring their vital signs, and ensuring adequate hydration. Reserve Engine 106, Light and Air 103, and Ambulance 101 were used during the session.
