Description
A City of Falls Church citizen generously allowed the FCVFD to use a house slated for demolition for training on the weekend of November 9 and 10, 2002. A total of 21 volunteer firefighters and 7 Auxiliary members participated in the exercises. The training consisted of firefighter rescues, self-rescue by breaching interior walls, search and rescue operations under simulated fireground conditions, forcible entry, and ventilation. The search and rescue scenarios required members to remove live people from the dwelling. The Auxiliary supported the training by providing food and drinks throughout the day, including soup and sandwiches at lunch. The Arlington County Fire Department loaned their smoke generator so low-visibility conditions could be used during the drill.
