Retired Truck 6
|
This unit was removed from service in early 2001 to make way for a new ladder truck. This truck served the Greater Falls Church area beginning in 1973 when it was purchased from Hahn Motors for approximately $100,000. In 1988, a new tractor was purchased and the entire unit was refurbished by Interstate Truck Equipment in Hagerstown, Maryland. The unit could carry up to seven firefighters, sported a Grove steel aerial ladder, and a full complement of vehicle rescue equipment. Before it was refurbished in 1988, the tractor was equipped with a small water tank and pump with a single crosslay.
In the fall of 2004, after several failed attempts at selling the unit, the vehicle was turned over to a local towing contractor for disposal and salvage. Many thanks go to the City of Falls Church Property Yard for their assistance in storing the vehicle and ultimately locating a means of disposal. |
