Medtec Patient Compartment Entry

EMS Captain Fortner and Assistant Chief Evinger traveled to Orange, VA to view an innovative method for access to the curbside door of an ambulance. Due to the step height of the entrance, the FCVFD apparatus committee is seeking alternatives to aid personnel and patients with negotiating the entrance to the unit. Medtec, a subsidiary of Pierce Manufacturing, has introduced a folding set of steps that deploy when the compartment door is opened and close automatically when the door is closed. The are very similar to the cab access provided on the Pierce Quantum chassis.
