Emergency Vehicle Operator Course
|
Deputy Chief Schloss served as lead instructor for this 16-hour Virginia Department of Fire Programs certification course. The course teaches candidate apparatus operators the laws, duties, and responsibilities associated with operating an emergency vehicle in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Students were required to complete a written and practical exam to obtain certification. The class was attended by 5 Falls Church VFD, 1 Cherrydale VFD, and 1 Fredericksburg Rescue Squad personnel.
The practical evolutions were to be completed in the reserved rear parking area of Falls Church High School, however another group using the facility removed barricades that had kept traffic out. When the instructors arrived to set up the course, the parking area was full of cars. Operations were eventually moved to Timber Lane Elementary School after an hour of searching for a suitable location.
Many thanks to the Falls Church Sheriff's Office and VDOT for use of the traffic cones! |
