Light & Air Unit Testing and Skills Day

Personnel from the Falls Church VFD and Cherrydale VFD joined members of the Arcola Pleasant Vally VFD for a day of skills reviews. During the morning, the group was split between the firefighters and recruits. The recruits were taken to an acquired structure for completion of their Light and Air Unit orientation. They operated pumps to remove water from the basement, extended cords and lights into the building, and simulated salvage operations. The firefighters remained at Station 9 for vehicle extrication practicals using donated vehicles.
All personnel spent the afternoon at the acquired structure performing search and rescue operations under simulated smoke conditions.
