Light & Air 106
|
A new emergency support vehicle purchased to replace Light and Air 103. The vehicle chassis is a 2011 International 7400 purchased from Bare Truck Center in Westminster, Maryland. M&W Fire Apparatus of Vinton, Virginia, was awarded the contract to construct the 16' non-walk-in body and complete installation of the auxiliary equipment. Highlights of the vehicle include: MaxxForce 9 300hp diesel engine, Allison 3000EVS automatic transmission, anti-lock brakes, seating for 3, LED warning light package, 25kW PTO Onan generator, 9,000 watt Command Light light tower, and Haskell Air Booster System for breathing air replenishment.
In the spring of 2011, M&W Fire Apparatus along with the contract to build the vehicle was purchased by Atlantic Emergency Solutions (AES).
On June 29, 2011, four FCVFD personnel traveled to the factory to complete the pre-paint inspection of the truck. This ensures that accessories and body components are located properly prior to the application of paint. Representatives from Navistar International were also on-hand to program the chassis electrical system to operate the various warning lights, scene lights, and functions installed by AES.
On October 3 and 4, 2011, the team of four personnel completed the 85% complete inspection at the AES facility in Vinton, VA. This trip finalized the location of tool trays and mounting boards, equipment location ideas, and the "fit and finish" details required before assembly is complete.
On November 19, 2011, the vehicle was delivered by Atlantic Emergency Solutions. Delivering the truck were Jeremy Duvall of AES, Ron Garber of Fire Apparatus Sales of Staunton, and Lew Stoms of Bare Truck Center. Seven personnel inspected and accepted the unit on behalf of the FCVFD. |
