Operation Enduring Claus 2009

Each year the volunteers decorate a reserve engine and drive Santa Claus around the Greater Falls Church area to visit residents. Between 6:30pm and 9:30pm each evening from December 15 through December 23 Santa visits each street in the City of Falls Church and, as time permits, neighborhoods on the fringes of the City. During the trips, FCVFD members hand out candy canes and fire safety literature to citizens. Dog biscuits are also available for our four-legged friends who frequently come out to visit with Santa.
This year's journeys were especially challenging due to the unexpected snow storm on December 18. For the first time in recent memory, the Santamobile was outfitted with snow chains to ensure safe travels. |
