Memorial Day 2011

With temperature indices around 100 degrees, Thirty FCVFD personnel staffed numerous units in support of the City of Falls Church Memorial Day celebration. The ACFD augmented the FCVFD presence in the late afternoon with the Medical Ambulance Bus and a career paramedic, an EMT, and EMS Supervisor. Further support was provided by Fairfax County volunteers from the Dunn Loring VFD and McLean VFD. The City of Falls Church OEM arranged for a school bus to serve as a cooling station at the end of the parade route.
For the entire event, only 3 people required transport to local hospitals for further evaluation. Thirty-five people were evaluated and treated by the Medical Ambulance Bus. Approximately 60 citizens were evaluated on the cooling bus while several hundred were assisted with drinking water, soaking water, and simple first aid issues. |
