County Drill - Mayday & Buddy Breathing

FF Evinger organized a classroom and practical review of Mayday awareness, self-rescue techniques, and radio protocols for firefighter emergencies. Approximately 25 personnel completed the training at the Arlington Fire Training Academy. All of the practical evolutions were completed with full protective equipment and breathing apparatus. The facepieces of the participants were obscured using wax paper inside the lense to simulate zero-visibility conditions. One practical exercise consisted of an entrapment in a confined space requiring a Mayday transmission by the participant. The second exercise required participants to orient themselves on a hoseline to find an exit while meeting up with a partner to complete a buddy breathing technique. |
