Independence Day 2013

A fireworks display has been conducted annually at George Mason High School for many years and has become very popular among local residents. Each year, thousands gather to view a spectacular display of color and sound. Six FCVFD personnel staffed Engine 106-B, and Light & Air 106 for the City of Falls Church fireworks display at George Mason High School. Despite high temperatures, there were no heat casualtis and the fireworks display took place without incident. Several agencies in addition to the FCVFD contributed to the success of the event: - Falls Church Police and Sheriffs helped patrol the event area and provided traffic control. - Fairfax County Fire Marshalls provided oversight to the fireworks vendor to ensure compliance with all safety requirements. - Falls Church Parks & Recreation managed the public assembly areas, managing entertainment, food vendors and donations from the public.
