Open House 2002
|
The Falls Church VFD, in coordination with the Arlington County career firefighters of the B-shift, hosted its annual open house to culminate a week of fire prevention activities. Citizens were invited to visit the fire station and obtain fire safety tips, learn about the equipment, and watch demonstrations of fire and rescue techniques. The demonstrations consisted of a vehicle extrication, roof ventilation using a simulator, and fire extinguisher use. The Falls Church Sheriff's Office was also on hand to perform child fingerprinting and provide safety tips. The Falls Church Police performed a canine demonstration with two of their dogs.
In addition to the open house, volunteer firefighters visited Saint James, Mount Daniel, and Thomas Jefferson Schools in the City of Falls Church during the preceding week. Approximately 650 children were taught about fire safety. In addition to FCVFD personnel, ACFD Captain Saulnier assisted with the school visit to Saint James. |
