Firefighter I/II - Roof Ventilation

Recruits learned the proper techniques for using power saws and hand tools when performing vertical ventilation. Class began with tool familiarization and safety protocols. Sisler's Stone donated pallets for the students to practice cutting with axes, chainsaws, and cutoff saws. Once each student demonstrated their skills on the pallets, a roof simulator was utilized for recruit to practice opening a ventilation hole in a pitched roof. The simulator was the creation of the ACFD B-shift personnel assigned to Station 6. Removable panels enable the simulator to be used for multiple evolutions in one day. |
